This little piece looks like it has some great questions for incumbent trustees in North Vancouver. My question would be, how hard is it to award a scholarship to students as per wishes and contributions made by the deceased? How many more donations do they think they'll received if they can't manage to deal with this one?
OK, sorry, that's two questions.
According to evidence presented in B.C. Supreme Court, the school district has not been living up to the terms of the trust fund and failed to award the scholarship in 2007 and 2008.
Elaine Lee, Jean's daughter, petitioned the court asking that the school district be ordered to comply with the original terms of the agreement by providing Lee's family with a financial accounting of how the fund was managed.
She also sought an order that the money paid out to students between 2002 and 2006 that had exceeded the amount the fund made in interest be repaid to the fund, plus interest.
Justice Austin Cullen agreed.
