Unions dish out cash, blessing to candidates

Union grades irk candidates
Teachers' union gives out grades ranging from A to F.

The Maple Ridge Teachers' Union and CUPE have sent out letters to their members endorsing trustee candidates who they consider would work best on the board of education for their interests, but at least one candidate isn't happy with the rating system given by the teachers' union.

The MRTA has sent out what president Drusilla Wilson called an "internal bulletin" with grades for the candidates running in Maple Ridge, with incumbent Stepan Vdovine and former assistant superintendent Albert Pasqualotto getting an A while incumbent trustee Dave Rempel and first-time candidate Laurie Geschke received an F. Other candidates were given grades from B+ down to D...
