No Candidate Yet For West Coast School Trustee

TOFINO — As of Thursday afternoon, nobody had yet filed nomination papers to run for School District 70’s West Coast trustee.
Bob Harper, administrator for the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District, said if nobody files nomination papers at the regional district office in Port Alberni or municipal offices in Tofino and Ucluelet by 4 p.m. today, the filing deadline will be extended until Tuesday afternoon.

West Coast Will Have A School Trustee

PORT ALBERNI — Eleanor Gee filed her papers at the last minute Friday and will be the West Coast trustee for School District 70, replacing Sally Mole who chose not to run again.
Past elections have been similar with the West Coast communities scrambling to find someone to fill the spot so the area gets representation on the board of education...

School Candidates Recite Their Lines

PORT ALBERNI — Twelve candidates for six School District No. 70 trustee positions answered questions before about 60 people Monday evening at Echo Centre.
There was some difference of opinion revealed regarding mandatory district common grade assessments and one candidate bucked the others in coming out strongly opposed to the new school site, but most often candidates echoed each other’s sentiments on the topics raised.
